Quémame – Chlöe’s Clue (ft. Daniel, Me Estás Matando)

20 March 2020 - single

There’s a sensation that only a special someone brings. That sensation opens up so many feelings we never knew existed. It also aches in trembles when they’re gone. In this track, Chlöe’s Clue is yearning for that someone—the only one that can unleash this reserved craving. There’s a lock on it, and only one key exists. With the help of Daniel, Me Estás Matando, singer Raquel Adalid uncovers her desire in this passionate plea.

Adalid wastes no time in her opening line: “Solo sé que siento ser salvaje/y arrancar heridas por placer” (All I know is I want to be wild/a tear off wounds for pleasure). It’s dramatic, it’s explicit, and it’s real. These feelings aren’t something she can create herself. She begs for a dance to set her off because her love can’t set fire to itself: “no es inflamable” (it’s not inflammable).

Adalid lets the full strength of her voice shout so that this person can hear. “Quémame que no hay manera de hacerme un incendio” (light me up, I can’t make my own fire). She begs for them to set fire to everything that’s just sitting there. It’s so strong and so explicit that she can’t even let herself describe it to them: “Quitame las ganas de no quieras saber” (take away my desire that you don’t want to know”.

The guitars sneak back into the background with Daniel, Me Estás Matando’s verse. They sing about the desire, keeping it “sigilosa” (stealthy). If it doesn’t stay quiet, it will all unravel. They even call it a “lio…desastre” (mess…disaster). They need to keep it away from Adalid, or things will get messy. The keys are careful and the trumpet is soft and sultry. But she doesn’t care. The guitars pick up, the rhythm becomes heavier, and she shouts to the sky once more. “Quémame…quítame las penas” (Light me on fire…take away my worries). The trumpet returns with fire, a bright solo riding along the pulsing hunger. Daniel, Me Estás Matando joins Adalid in the final chorus, both of them aching for this fire to start. When no one listens and she can’t start the fire, Adalid falls to rest with her trumpet.
