Not a Top 25 List (2022)
Here are some artists and projects that are on my mind as I close out the year. Each project a break from my reality, room for contemplation, or room for praise. It’s not all-inclusive. Some albums aren’t even from 2022 but it’s all good. Thanks for being here with me.

Carlos’s Top 25 Albums of 2022
These 25 albums have incredible singles that carry the rest of the LP, well-produced works, and finally some albums where it would be a sin to even think about skipping a track. I noticed that my favorite albums featured some of my already favorite artists trying out new things with their sounds that fit perfectly, as if they had always done that before. Here are my favorite albums of 2022.

Honestly, I’m Sold
Listen, if there is anything I want you to walk away with it’s this: this is not Drake’s Rebirth. This is Drake’s 808’s. And it is every bit as culturally significant. Maybe more. Only time will tell.

家.V1 - Knxwledge
Knxwledge has remedied our collective worries by dropping “家.V1”, a house music mix on Bandcamp. This is probably one of my favorite things I’ve heard in a while. A few minutes in and I was completely entranced.
As well, the title “V1” gives me hope that they’ll be more of these mixes to come.

The 25 Best Albums of 2021
Music has been pretty inconsistent for me this year. I went through a phase where I couldn’t listen to anything without it all feeling like too much. During that time, I was given some insightful words - that music is always there for you, and it will find you when your headspace is better. Those words allowed me to take my break without guilt, and surely enough when I was ready, the music was still there.

The 25 Best Albums of 2021
This pandemic still isn’t over, and neither are the delayed or renewed projects of so many from it. Some artists took to the Folklore-an route of producing natural-sounding tracks with introspective lyrics. Some artists shouted out their strength with confident celebrations. I appreciate the unique ways these albums capture the changes around them through their words and music. People change, our environment changes, our minds change. In these 25 albums, these artists show their mastery at helping us make sense of the stops and flows of our lives. These are my favorite albums of 2021.
